Tree service in Dana Point

From the Harbor to Monarch Beach

Dana Point is our home town, and its streets are anything but uniform. Down by Dana Point Harbor and along the bluffs above Doheny State Beach, trees take salt spray and steady onshore wind every afternoon. Up in the Lantern District, older lots mix mature street trees with tight side yards, overhead lines and narrow access. Monarch Beach, Niguel Shores and the gated communities near Salt Creek sit on slopes where a single overgrown canopy can block a neighbor's ocean view or drop debris onto a terrace below.

Because every pocket of the city behaves a little differently, we start each visit by walking the property with you rather than quoting from a template. This page looks at how tree care changes from one neighborhood to the next; for an overview of everything we do, see our main Dana Point tree service page.

★★★★★Crown Reduction
“Worked in a professional manor. Cleaned the neighbors yard, our yard and the street. We were very pleased with removing part of our large Chinese Elm and thinning out the crown.”
Karl Barbour, review on Google (opens in a new tab) Oct 2026
★★★★★Clean-up
“Luna has trimmed the 6 trees on our property for the last 2 years, and they do an excellent job. The trees look great, and they are super clean, so your yard looks perfect when they are done.”
Karen Parker, review on Google (opens in a new tab) Oct 2026
★★★★★Years of repeat work
“We have been using Luna tree for many years. A few days ago Isidro and Francisco did a great job in trimming our Peppermint tree and cleaning-up afterwords, at a reasonable price. Thank you Luna Tree!”
Tony Pira, review on Google (opens in a new tab) Oct 2026

How we work

Our services, explained

Trees We Commonly Look After Here

Coastal Dana Point yards are typically dominated by palms: Mexican fan palms lining driveways, Canary Island date palms as focal points, and queen palms around pools. Each needs periodic frond and seed-pod removal so fronds don't fall on cars or walkways. Monterey cypress and Torrey pine show up on bluff-top lots as windbreaks, and both respond badly to heavy topping, so we favor selective thinning that lets wind pass through. Inland streets near the Lantern District often carry ficus, carrotwood and older eucalyptus, whose surface roots and heavy limbs are worth watching near hardscape.

Coastal Zone and HOA Notes

Much of Dana Point lies within the California coastal zone, and some bluff and canyon properties carry extra conditions on vegetation work. Before removing a large tree near a bluff edge or habitat area, check with the City of Dana Point planning department about whether a coastal development permit or other approval applies. Many Monarch Beach and Niguel Shores homes also answer to an HOA with its own landscape and view rules, so it helps to have your association's guidelines handy when we plan pruning or removal. We are glad to work around those requirements and schedule the job once you have the go-ahead.
